Free agent quarterback Marcus Mariota has agreed to terms on a two-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons, the team announced Monday.
Fantasy Impact: This move was rumored to be in the works immediately after the Falcons traded Matt Ryan to the Colts, and the team worked quickly to fill their quarterback vacancy. Mariota will reunite with head coach Arthur Smith, who was a tight ends coach and later the offensive coordinator in Tennessee. Mariota is a former No. 2 overall pick who has been relegated to backup duty the last few years. But he’s still just 28 years old and will presumably have the opportunity to earn the starting gig and revive his career in Atlanta.
