Marcus Mariota is headed for knee surgery and he will be placed on injured reserve, per head coach Arthur Smith.
Fantasy Impact: Mariota’s first season with the Falcons will end after 13 games. The 29-year-old completed 61.3% of his passes, for 2,219 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Rookie Desmond Ridder will take over and likely start the rest of the season for the Falcons. Mariota is only contractually tied to the Falcons for one more season, although there is an opt-out in his deal with minimal dead cap space for the Falcons.
