In a move that was widely expected, the Jets are placing the franchise tag on safety Marcus Maye.
Fantasy Impact: Maye, 27, posted two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, 88 tackles, and 11 passes defended over 16 starts in 2020. For the Jets, retaining Maye means a key defensive weapon will return for at least one more season. Maye provides a critical and experienced presence in defensive-minded head coach Robert Saleh’s secondary. By addressing the contract of the talented safety, the Jets can turn their attention to other areas of focus in the draft and free agency. Maye becomes the second player-and second safety-to be tagged so far, joining Justin Simmons of the Broncos.
