Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said that Mason Rudolph would be the team’s starting quarterback “if we started a season today.”
Fantasy Impact: Colbert also referenced Rudolph’s 5-4-1 record as a starter when alluding to the upside he offers down the road. Forced into action from time to time due to Ben Roethlisberger’s injuries or COVID-19 absence, Rudolph could be the next man up now that Roethlisberger has retired. The 26-year-old has racked up 2,366 passing yards, 16 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions over the last three seasons. Pittsburgh will surely explore its options via free agency, the trade market, and the 20th pick in the draft, but it’s very possible that Rudolph will be their guy in Week 1 next season. If so, he could be viewed as a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes.
