The Raiders and star defensive end Maxx Crosby are making progress on an extension that would make him one of the highest-paid defensive players in the NFL. Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports that talks are going well and have gained intensity as of late.
Fantasy Impact: Crosby, a former fourth-round pick, is approaching his final season under contract. He totaled eight sacks and 56 tackles in 2021. Throughout the entirety of his three-year career, Crosby hasn’t missed a game. In total, he has racked up 25 sacks, four fumbles forced, 142 tackles, and 43 tackles for loss. Currently on his rookie deal, Crosby is owed a mere $4.2 million in 2022. At the moment, the highest-paid defensive end is Myles Garrett, who rakes in $25 million per year. It seems reasonable to assume that Crosby’s next contract will net him more than $20 million annually.
