Mecole Hardman caught his lone target for four yards in Kansas City’s 41-31 win against the Buccaneers in Week 4.
Fantasy Impact: Hardman caught just one ball for the second straight game but did double his Week 3 receiving yard total (2) with his four yards in Week 4. Hardman was expected to take a big step forward this season with the exit of Tyreek Hill to Miami but he has done anything but. After catching 6-of-10 targets for 65 yards and one rush for minus-4 yards in the first two weeks of the season, Hardman has essentially disappeared. He could be forgiven for Week 3 where the whole team played as badly as they have in years. However, Week 4’s 1/4/0 line is unacceptable in a game where Kansas City scored 41 points and had five pass catchers exceed 10 receiving yards including backup tight end Jody Fortson. Hardman has been nursing a heel injury but if he’s healthy enough to suit up and play then he should be capable of producing more than two catches and six yards in two games. Hardman should remain on fantasy managers’ bench for now and his potential and history in this potent Kansas City offense is all that keeps him worthy of a roster spot at the moment.
