Per Ian Rapoport, the Saints are not expected to pursue a trade for Michael Thomas this offseason, and that he is in a “good place” regarding the health of his ankle.
Fantasy Impact: Thomas spent the 2021 NFL season on the PUP list, one year removed from winning the NFL Offensive Player of the Year award. He is expected to make a full recovery, after suffering a setback in his recovery in November. In his all-pro 2019 campaign he caught 149 passes for 1725 yards and nine touchdowns. His ability is not the limiting factor here, however the Saints quarterback situation will be one to monitor throughout the offseason. With Pete Carmicheal calling the plays this season, we expect the Saints to have a fairly balanced offence, given Carmicheal’s time calling plays in 2012 – a scheme that is familiar for New Orleans, and one Thomas has thrived in throughout his career.
