Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the starters will play as much as the entire the first half of Saturday’s preseason game against the Commanders according to ESPN’s Adam Teicher.
Fantasy Impact: Mahomes will get as much as a half to get the starting offense tuned up for the regular season before likely sitting the third and final preseason game. Backup quarterback Chad Henne will not play on Saturday and instead, Mahomes will turn the reigns over to the second-year quarterback Shane Buechele whenever his night is over. New faces and injuries on offense mean Mahomes will play deeper into a preseason game than most teams attempt these days. Assuming Mahomes makes it out of Saturday’s game unscathed, fantasy managers most likely won’t see him on the field until Week 1 in Arizona.
