Patriots rookie running back Pierre Strong Jr. rushed six times for 25 yards during Thursday’s preseason opener against the Giants. He was unable to haul in his lone target through the air. New England ultimately lost to New York on a field goal as time expired. The final score was 23-21.
Fantasy Impact: Strong is one of many moving parts in the New England backfield. With James White retiring and Damien Harris a candidate to be traded, every running back on the depth chart is working to carve out a key role. Strong got the first crack at it during this preseason contest and did a good job finding gaps and demonstrating burst. He remains in competition with Ty Montgomery, J.J. Taylor, and fellow rookie Kevin Harris for a role behind Rhamondre Stevenson (and Damien Harris).
