Seattle Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny is not expected to have his fifth-year option picked up by the team, per Ian Rapoport.
Fantasy Impact: Penny saw virtually no work within the offense until the final three games of last season, totaling just 11 carries for 34 yards. Injuries were a large part of the former San Diego State running back’s struggles in Seattle, as he is now expected to hit waivers. This decision elevates Seahawks’ starting running back Chris Carson, who will have a three-down workhorse role out of the backfield with limited depth behind him now that Penny is reported to be out. Carson carried 141 times for 681 yards and five touchdowns in 12 games during the 2020 season, adding another 37 receptions and four touchdowns through the air. Carson becomes a bonafide RB1 with only Travis Homer and DeeJay Dallas behind him on the depth chart heading into the 2021 season.
