Chris Mason of MassLive.com reports that Patriots rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson has looked quite impressive while catching passes out of the backfield. Originally compared to LeGarrette Blount, Stephenson has “caught passes in 7-on-7 and team periods and doesn’t look one-dimensional.”
Fantasy Impact: The Patriots spent their fourth-round selection on Stevenson, a product of Oklahoma. In college, he logged 165 carries for 1,180 yards and 13 scores over 19 games. He saw limited work as a pass-catcher in 2019 but did fetch 18 receptions for 211 yards over six games in 2020. In the New England backfield, he will join fellow youngsters Sony Michel, Damien Harris, and J.J. Taylor, as well as pass-catching specialist James White. It will be interesting to see how the Patriots approach the backfield this season, though we have reason to be excited: Stevenson himself said offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels “is genius.”
