On Monday, Richard Sherman announced that he intends to play for just two more years. Now, we are learning that the impending free agent won’t return to the 49ers in 2021. During a phone call with The Sacramento Bee, Sherman said, “It’s been made pretty clear. It was a good conversation, nothing crazy. Just a good conversation about where they are and where I am, and their plans. We were both very positive and as good as you can be in a situation like this.”
Fantasy Impact: A five-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro, Sherman will take his talents elsewhere after spending 10 years in the NFC West. The former fifth-round pick should have many suitors as he hits the open market. Very early speculation has linked Sherman to the Seahawks, with whom he previously spent seven years and won a Super Bowl, and Jets, where Robert Saleh is currently the head coach. Of course, Sherman, 32, has shown no signs of slowing down and should draw interest from many teams looking for a talented veteran presence in their secondary.
