According to ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley has impressed so far in training camp. Barkley appears to be fully healthy after sustaining multiple injuries over the past three seasons, and he’s been praised for his explosiveness, decisiveness, and quickness.
Fantasy Impact: Barkley’s rookie season when he produced over 2,000 all-purpose yards and finished as the RB1 in PPR formats feels like ages ago. Over the past three seasons, Barkley has suffered numerous injuries that have limited his playing time and effectiveness and have led to his draft stock falling from the consensus 1.01 to being drafted at the two-three turn in 12-team leagues. Fantasy managers have been burned by Barkley in recent seasons, but the potential upside he has shown makes him an intriguing target in fantasy drafts, albeit a risky one. All indications from Giants training camp suggest Barkey has regained the elite athleticism that wasn’t always evident last season as he returned from a torn ACL he suffered the year prior. Still just 25 years old, Barkley has the potential to be a league winner, but he remains one of the riskier players being selected in the early rounds of fantasy drafts.
