In a surprise move, the Patriots are releasing former All-Pro DB Stephon Gilmore, as per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Fantasy Impact: Gilmore tore his quad in the back half of 2020 and is still working his way back from the surgery that repaired it. He started the season on the PUP list but is eligible to return in Week 6. This move speaks volumes about where the Patriots are evaluating Gilmore in terms of his recovery. Gilmore is only two years removed from being the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year, and odds are he will find a new home sooner rather than later.
