Sterling Shepard has been activated from the PUP list and will return to practice for the first time since suffering a torn Achilles in Week 15 of the 2021 season.
Fantasy Impact: Head coach Brian Daboll told reporters that he is “excited” to have Shepard back, as he’s an experienced player that can line up in a multitude of spots as a wide receiver. Daboll was non-committal when asked if Shepard would be available for the team’s final preseason game Sunday, which is a sign that he should be ready to go when Week 1 of the regular season kicks off. Shepard could take on a large role in Daboll’s offensive scheme, which allowed slot receiver Cole Beasley to record the 12th most receptions in the NFL over the past two seasons. The magnitude of Shepard’s fantasy impact will be determined by how often he is on the field as he competes with Kenny Golladay, Kadarius Toney, and rookie Wan’Dale Robinson for playing time. Daniel Jones targeted Shepard an average of 7.6 times per game last season, so if he’s on the field, the ball will come his way.
