New York Giants wide receiver Sterling Shepard (Achilles) is one of three players on the team starting camp on the physically unable to perform list, per Jordan Raanan who covers the Giants for ESPN.
Fantasy Impact: Shepard tore his left Achilles during Week 15 of the 2021 season against the Dallas Cowboys and has spent all off-season rehabbing. The veteran still isn’t quite ready to resume practice but has been jogging since early June. This doesn’t completely rule out Shepard from still practicing at some point during camp but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Giants air on the side of caution with their oft-injured wideout. The veteran has spent all six seasons with the Giants posting career numbers of 349 receptions, 3,884 yards, and 21 touchdowns with 8 of those coming from his rookie season. Fantasy managers shouldn’t consider Shepard as any more than a later-round dart throw at this point in his career due to his struggles with durability and the fact he could descend down the depth chart with Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney pegged two be New York’s one-two punch in their passing attack.
