Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro OLB T.J. Watt will not participate in practice until the team offers a contract extension, per Mark Kaboly of The Athletic.
Fantasy Impact: Watt is playing under his fifth-year option for $10 million in 2021 but will likely receive a franchise tag from the Steelers if they do not offer a contract extension before the season opener on the road against the Buffalo Bills. Watt has been an All-Pro or Pro-Bowl linebacker across each of the last three seasons and is coming off of an impressive performance in 2020, registering 15 sacks, 23 TFLs, and 41 QB hits to become just the third player to hit this mark since 2004. Continue monitoring updates surrounding Watt’s contract extension as the preseason gets underway.
