Tony Pollard is unlikely to reach any long-term contract agreements with the Cowboys before Monday’s franchise tag deadline, according to Jeremy Fowler.
Fantasy Impact: Pollard will be due just over $10 million if he ends up playing under the franchise tag, and it would be a prove-it season for a player who has been in a timeshare with Ezekiel Elliott throughout his career. While the long-term uncertainty may not be the greatest thing for Pollard’s dynasty ranking, it may just be music in the ears of any managers who manage to snag the explosive Pollard in redraft or best-ball leagues. If Josh Jacob’s 2022 campaign is any indication, an expiring contract is often a sign of big things for skill-position players. In a small sample size of three games without Elliot, Pollard has averaged over 100 rushing yards and two TDs. With Zeke out of the picture, Pollard figures to be a low-end RB1 in 2023, with all the upside in the world.
