Trey Lance: 49ers to explore all options with QB, including trade

According to Tom Pelissero, Sam Darnold has won the 49ers backup QB role, pushing Trey Lance to a relegated role on the team. The Niners will look to trade the former third-overall pick.

Fantasy Impact: Lance’s time in San Francisco seems to be ending unceremoniously, as the team has relegated him to a third-string QB. Just two years removed from the team trading up to select the NDSU product, they now seem to be fully committing to building around 2022’s Mr.Irrelevant Brock Purdy. If Lance is traded to the right place, he still has a ton of potential to be a great fantasy asset, thanks to a strong, live arm and impressive rushing ability. With the timetable around a Lance trade being unknown he does not belong on most redraft rosters, but he is a fascinating buy-low candidate in dynasty formats.
