Trey Lance completed 7 of his 11 pass attempts for 49 yards in Thursday night’s preseason loss to the Texans. He added one rushing yard on a single carry.
Fantasy Impact: Lance registered a mediocre performance in the 49ers’ final preseason game, averaging just 4.5 yards per attempt and finishing with a 73.7 QB rating. Three of his four incompletions were actually intended for the team’s top pass-catchers who made their first preseason appearances of the year: Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk. On the other hand, he looked sharp in the initial preseason contest versus Green Bay, without that receiving trio on the field. Lance’s tantalizing upside in a strong system should mark him as a fringe top-10 QB for fantasy purposes, even with growing pains likely to occur along the way.
