San Francisco tail back Trey Sermon is not active for the 49ers’ preseason game on Sunday due to an ankle injury, as reported by San Francisco Chronicle’s Eric Branch.
Fantasy Impact: After receiving nine carries during last week’s preseason game, Sermon will be getting the week off before hopefully returning for the 49ers next preseason game a week from now. The injury doesn’t seem to be too serious, but is definitely something fantasy managers should continue to monitor over the next week or so. Although he finished with just 26 yards on nine carries, the Ohio State product showed flashes of potential in last week’s game as he figures to be the goal line back for San Francisco. Sermon also comes with the potential to get an increased workload should teammate Raheem Mostert go down with injury, an issue Mostert struggled with in 2020.
