Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said that he is “encouraged” by the idea of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa not playing in Saturday’s preseason opener against the cross-state Buccaneers.
Fantasy Impact: Resting starters has become a common trend in Week 1 of the NFL preseason. In addition to Tagovailoa, fellow AFC East quarterbacks Mac Jones and Josh Allen are also sitting out of their respective openers. With the third-year Dolphin on the bench, veteran Teddy Bridgewater and rookie Skylar Thompson will share reps under center. Heading into 2022, Tagovailoa is viewed as a low-end QB2 with the potential to rise up rankings now that he has both Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill at his disposal.
