According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys have informed backup QB Will Grier that he will be cut after the team’s preseason finale, which he is expected to play from start to finish.
Fantasy Impact: Grier was informed of the Cowboys’ intentions to trade for Trey Lance ahead of time, according to Moore, and was told he won’t be with the team going forward. It’s possible that they bring him back on the practice squad, but it’s unclear if he’ll be on any active rosters in 2023. Grier was a third-round pick by the Carolina Panthers out of West Virginia in 2019, starting a pair of games for them his rookie season. Since then he has been a member of the Cowboys.
