Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said in his press conference Thursday that quarterback Mitch Trubisky will start Pittsburgh’s second preseason game Saturday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Fantasy Impact: All three Steelers quarterbacks will play Saturday but 2022 first-round pick Kenny Pickett will be Trubisky’s backup. Mason Rudolph will follow Pickett after Pickett followed Rudolph in the first preseason game. Trubisky remains on track to be Pittsburgh’s starting quarterback this season and the Steelers lucked out in their first season without Ben Roethlisberger. Trubisky, the former #1 overall pick, enters the 2022 season with 10,652 career passing yards with 64 touchdowns and 38 interceptions and another 1,081 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on the ground. Trubisky was the victim of poor play calling and a relative lack of talent around him in Chicago before playing his lone season in Buffalo last year backing up Josh Allen. Trubisky has all the makings of a big-time sleeper in fantasy leagues this season.
