We are nearly a fourth of the way through the season. Hopefully, you are sitting atop your league and your team is performing. However, you may be a Russell Wilson fantasy manager.
In that case, the sky is falling and the world is ending. Maybe I’m just a little salty because I happen to own Russ in a couple of leagues. All of my feelings aside, I will be looking to stream some options this week. You may be in a similar position with an underperforming or injured quarterback. Let’s take to the wire and see what options we can target this week.
Week 4 streaming quarterbacks
Cooper Rush (DAL)
How often can you feel comfortable with streaming a backup running back? Jerry Jones would support the idea this week given that he mentioned Cooper Rush could beat out Dak Prescott similar to what Dak did to Tony Romo. Let’s be honest though, that probably is not going to happen.
But, Rush has played well in Dak’s absence. This week he gets to take on a Commanders’ defense that’s giving up an average of 27.3 points per game which ranks 28th in the league. Look to see Rush put up a touchdown or two, and have a high yardage week against a defense that is also giving up 400.2 yards per game.
Jacoby Brissett (CLE)
The Cleveland offense finally showed some signs of life last week. Jacoby Brissett threw the ball for 220 yards and two touchdowns. He most certainly could repeat that performance this week against a Falcons defense giving up 354.4 yards per game.
Atlanta is currently ranked 24th against quarterbacks according to ESPN. This is also the same defense that gave up 325 yards and two touchdowns to Geno Smith. If you need a one-week rental Brissett may just be your guy.
Geno Smith (SEA)
As a Jet, Geno Smith never really took off. But, as a Seahawk, he has a new opportunity to take flight. He certainly did against the Falcons last week going for the above-mentioned 325 and two. He may not repeat those exact numbers, but against a Detroit defense giving up the 3rd most yards in the league he could come very close. It’s surprising to say, but let’s take flight with the Seahawks Geno Smith this week.
Week 4 streaming defenses
Packers D/ST
The Packers are off to an up-and-down start to the season. But, looking over their schedule for the next few weeks things should get better. New England is going to be without Mack Jones and is already an offense that has struggled mightily to get going.
The Packers are a clear favorite in this game, and the Packers’ D/ST is my favorite defense to stream this week.
Arizona D/ST
The Arizona Defense hasn’t been prolific by any means. However, this week they draw a Panthers team that is still finding its offense. Baker did come in late during training camp, so it could just be that the offense needs a little bit more time together. Christian McCaffrey has been good but hasn’t blown up just yet. DJ Moore may have the best quarterback he’s ever played with, but it doesn’t seem like the chemistry is there at the moment.
I do not expect those things to change in a week, so the Arizona Defense may be able to take advantage of a Panthers team in need of time and chemistry. I’m not looking to start the Cardinals’ defense unless I have no better options. But, if you need a middle-of-the-pack defense with possible upside for a week then go for it.
