Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Rashaad Penny surprisingly took the reins on Monday night when the coaching staff decided to stop using Chris Carson for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, Penny continues to struggle to perform in Seattle’s backfield. Penny finished Monday night with just 30 yards on 10 carries. The reason head coach Pete Carroll provided for the rookie taking all the snaps in the second half is curious at best and suspicious at worst, as he initially claimed Carson had been tired from playing on special teams and later corrected that answer to say Carson just appeared tired after it came out that Carson had played just two special teams snaps all night. It’s unclear if Penny is going to be stepping into more of a central role or not, but either way, Seattle’s offensive woes mean he should be avoided for now.
