Titans running back Darrynton Evans worked with the wide receivers during individual OTA drills on Thursday, according to team reporter Jim Wyatt. Evans reportedly “looked good doing so, whether it was on the ladder drill or catching passes coming out of his break.” Titans head coach Mike Vrabel mentioned that Evans has impressed him with his versatility, adding that the team was trying “to get him some cross training work.”
Fantasy Impact: It’s worth noting that Evans did not solely line up as a receiver but rather split time out wide and in the backfield. (“He looked quick on his runs into space,” per Wyatt.) Spending time working as a receiver isn’t uncommon for running backs during OTAs, so it may not lead to much. However, it could also represent a path to a clear pass-catching role for Evans. Such a role would make sense given Derrick Henry isn’t a terrific pass-catcher. The jury is still out on the Appalachian State product, but he’s worth rostering in dynasty leagues as both a handcuff and deep receiving weapon.
