Nick Kosmider with The Athletic picked Jerry Jeudy as the most likely breakout candidate for the Denver Broncos, stating that the second-year receiver “looked sharp during offseason workouts open to media members, and recently, new quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said he was impressed by the professionalism and work ethic he has seen from Jeudy.”
Fantasy Impact: While much ado was made about Jeudy’s drops as a rookie, he impressed fans by leading the Broncos in targets and yards last season. Heading into 2021, the Broncos will get Courtland Sutton back, who suffered an ACL tear in Week 1 of last year. Sutton was a Pro Bowler in 2019 and could help open up the field for Jeudy, who was selected 15th overall in 2020. Noah Fant, another former first-rounder (tight end), will also be around this year. Jeudy, Sutton, and Fant make for one of the best pass-catching trios in the league. Still, the lack of certainty surrounding the quarterback situation is causing some trepidation from people drafting in fantasy football. Question marks are surrounding who will be atop the pecking order as a receiver. Additionally, a quarterback competition between Bridgewater and Drew Lock complicates projections. Jeudy looked polished as a route runner last year and totaled 856 passing yards, fifth among the loaded rookie class. Early camp reports are stating that Jeudy and Bridgewater have developed a strong rapport, so Bridgewater winning the job would likely cause Jeudy’s stock to rise. Jeudy and Sutton are in the same tier according to our Expert Consensus Rankings, but Jeudy is WR38 compared to Sutton’s WR29. Both young receivers have a chance to outperform that in 2021.
