Conference Championship week is here! This Sunday we will finally find out who will be playing for Super Bowl 53. After a largely unsurprising Divisional round, we are left with the top two seeds in each conference, making this Sunday’s games a showdown of the best the NFL has to offer.
Between the four remaining teams there must be at least a dozen “must start” players, which makes putting a DFS lineup together very tricky. I think it’s important to have some balance in your lineups and while you might want to jam as many stars in as possible and then rely on a couple of dart throws to win, that’s a bad move. In a slate this stacked, you can’t risk starting someone who can give you a goose egg. You must play your top two or three guys and then seek value everywhere else while getting as much upside as possible.
Jared Goff (FD $8,000, DK $5,400) and Robert Woods (FD $7,100, DK $5,700)
My top DFS stack play for the Championship round is Rams QB Jared Goff and Rams WR Robert Woods. The Rams will travel to the Big Easy this weekend to face Drew Brees and the top-seeded Saints in a game that should include tons of scoring.
Looking back at last week’s matchup with the Cowboys it may look like Goff had a bad game, but he actually had the Rams offense moving up and down the field all night and I expect some positive TD regression in this game. While the Saints boast the 2nd overall rush defense in the league, they are also 29th against the pass, which is why I expect Goff to be scoring the TDs this week not Todd Gurley and C.J. Anderson. The Saints secondary has been torched all season giving up over 21 fantasy points per game to QBs, including a whopping 36 points to Goff in the team’s previous matchup this season.
With all the glory going to Goff, Gurley and McCvay, a lot of people forget about one of the most important players on this whole roster: Robert Woods. Woods has been one of the most consistent WRs in the league all season, racking up at least 60 yards in 15 of the 17 games he played this year. Those numbers are ridiculous. This week Woods gets to face the Saints much maligned slot CB P.J. Williams, who from Weeks 11-17 gave up a line of 74%/235/2/0, giving Woods a great matchup to exploit.
Looking at these two teams it’s hard to envision anything other than an absolute shootout, which should lead to big time points for a bunch of guys. I like Goff and Woods this week because they carry big upside while still being cheaper than a lot of other guys. By stacking these two, you should be able to get a great balance of upside and safer players as well which is exactly what you’re looking for in DFS.
