Last week, we were blessed with some monster performances by Joe Mixon, Christian McCaffrey, Tyler Boyd, and others. Unfortunately, around this point in the season, as I am sure you all know, bye weeks start to pick up and players such as David Johnson and Marlon Mack are the victims this week. With the trade deadline providing massive opportunities for otherwise decent players such as Courtland Sutton and Kenny Golladay, there are some exploitable prices this week. As usual, I will not be recommending layers with high salaries as the players recommended are meant to be paired with all-star caliber players. Let’s get into the picks.
Must-Start of the Week: Michael Thomas ($7,600)
Before the Dante Fowler trade, I would have gone with Alvin Kamara with this title. Bt now, Thomas has too good of a matchup to pass up on this week. The Rams passing defense has been pretty overrated this year as Marcus Peters has been struggling for the vast majority of the season. Thomas will receive double-digit targets in a game that has obvious shootout potential.
Stack of the Week: Ryan Fitzpatrick and Mike Evans ($5,500 and $8,100)
Fitzmagic is back! After undeservingly having the starting job stripped away from him, Ryan Fitzpatrick is back in business and looked as good as ever last week versus the Bengals. Mike Evans has been an absolute stud with Fitzpatrick slinging the ball and went off for 179 yards and a touchdown last week. This game, in my opinion, will have the highest point total of the day.
Joe Flacco ($5,300)
Although he won’t get you rushing yards, Flacco played extremely well last time he faced Pittsburgh’s defense. He put up 25.22 DK points on 362 yards and 2 touchdowns. I expect the Ravens defense to hold the Steelers in check this week and for Flacco to have a similar stat line.
Adrian Peterson ($6,000)
This one is a no-brainer. With no Chris Thompson, Adrian Peterson is in line for a huge dose of work this week versus the worst rushing defense in the league: Atlanta. He will also be the beneficiary of the Falcons’ inability to prevent dump offs to running back, so Peterson should have a decent amount of receptions too. The Redskins want to keep Ryan and company off of the field and Peterson is their guy to achieve that goal.
Courtland Sutton ($3,900)
Courtland Sutton is by far the best bargain of the week. With Demaryius Thomas out of the picture, Sutton is ready to step in as the Broncos deep-threat playmaker. He has all of the talent and upside in the world and should go off this week versus an average Texans passing defense.
Kyle Rudolph ($3,600)
In a game that I expect to be a little closer than most, Kyle Rudolph should finally score the touchdown that his owners haven’t seen in weeks. He gets a solid matchup versus Detroit this week as they rank 18th versus tight ends.
Chicago ($4,100)
I don’t care that they are the most expensive defense this week. Nathan Peterman is most likely starting. Enough said.
