Just because there’s only one game this Sunday doesn’t mean you can’t have some DFS fun. Here are FanDuel and DraftKings plays for Super Bowl LIII, courtesy of @BerkovitsElliot.
It is finally here. Super Bowl LIII is only a couple of days away and I can hardly wait! After a historic Championship Sunday with both games heading into overtime, the Patriots and Rams prevailed in tough road environments. The Super Bowl will feature two of the NFL’s top offenses, one led by the all-time great Bill Belichick, and the other by young offensive guru Sean Mcvay.
With only one game left to be played, I will be doing things a bit differently this week. Instead of giving you guys one stack of the week, I will go through the FanDuel and DraftKings main contest and create my top lineups (five/six-man) to use on Super Bowl Sunday.
FanDuel
Jared Goff — $15,500
Brandin Cooks — $11,500
Robert Woods — $10,500
James White — $12,500
Rob Gronkowski — $9,000
Starting with my FanDuel lineup, you can see that I stacked the Rams with Jared Goff and both of his top weapons while still being able to play James White and Gronk.
I really like this lineup because it has both crazy upside and a very safe floor. Playing guys like Brandin Cooks and White who have tremendous upside while also going with Goff and Robert Woods gives you that perfect balance of risk and safety.
Usually after starting four studs like that you are left with slim pickings as your 5th option, but not this week. Even though Gronk had a disappointing regular season, he stepped up in a big way last week, catching 6 of 11 targets for 79 yards and he looked more involved in the offense than he has all year. If this game is the shootout everyone expects, a lineup like this could hit big.
DraftKings
James White — $10,800
Tom Brady — $10,600
Todd Gurley — $9,000
Brandin Cooks — $8,200
Rob Gronkowski — $6,000
Josh Reynolds — $5,400
When it comes to DraftKings I do things a bit differently being that they use full PPR instead of half PPR. Things here are different but not by too much.
I went with White at MVP because the Patriots have shown their reliance on him in big games in the past. Just two weeks ago against the Chargers he had 17 targets and 15 catches! In full PPR he is a must-start guy. To pair with White I went with Tom Brady because unlike most RBs, White does most of his damage through the air, which should put Brady in a great spot to put up big numbers.
Just like in my FanDuel lineup, I went with Brandin Cooks and Gronk for the same reasons: they are both heavily targeted and have high-TD upside. Even with the emergence of C.J. Anderson, I think Todd Gurley is still the Rams best offensive player and should see over 20 carries and a number of targets as well. Trust the process and get Gurley in your lineups.
To finish it off, I went with Josh Reynolds, who has filled in admirably for the injured Cooper Kupp. The Patriots are known to focus on a team’s top option while giving secondary guys a chance to shine. I expect a ton of 1-1 coverage for Reynolds, which should have Goff looking his way all game.
P.S.: Thank you so much to everyone who has read my article this season I really appreciate it and I can’t wait to get started working on the 2019 season!
