FanDuel Week 2 2019: Value Picks — Derek Carr, Matt Breida and Tyler Boyd are among this week’s sneaky FanDuel plays that won’t break the bank.
The FanDuel Dollar Menu provides you with a list of players that provide excellent value for you each week in FanDuel contests. You know, the same way that the dollar menu at your favorite fast-food restaurant provides you with a meal that may not be gourmet but it fills you up without breaking the bank.
FanDuel Dollar Menu – Week 2 Value Picks
QB: Derek Carr ($6,600, KC @ OAK)
Derek Carr and the entire Raiders offense performed surprisingly well in a week one victory over the Denver Broncos.
Carr was incredibly efficient, completing 22 of 26 passes, in addition to avoiding turnovers. Carr used all weapons effectively, including new Raider Tyrell Williams and new starter Darren Waller. Week 2 brings a Chiefs defense that allowed a combination of Nick Foles and rookie sixth-rounder Gardner Minchew II to light them up for 350 yards and three touchdowns one week ago.
I expect Carr to have another very good game and at $6,600, he is a great value at quarterback.
Additional Value Pick: Kyler Murray ($6,500 ARI @ BAL) scored 22.62 FanDuel points in his NFL debut. David Johnson may find running difficult this week against the Ravens, leaving more of the offensive load for Murray and the passing game to pick up. He is one of the lower-priced quarterbacks this week, making him a decent value.
RB: Josh Jacobs ($6,500, KC @ OAK)
Josh Jacobs had an incredible NFL debut in the silver and black in week one, resulting in a 23.8 FanDuel point performance. The rookie will again be featured in the Raiders rushing game and I also expect more involvement from him in the passing game this week.
They will feed him the ball as much as possible to try to keep Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs offense on the sideline. He is a top 10 play this week but is priced 19th in the FanDuel Sunday main slate.
RB: Matt Breida ($5,600, SF @ CIN)
Matt Breida was my additional value pick in week one against the Buccaneers. He disappointed with 13 carries for 37 yards and no receptions, so of course I’m picking him again this week.
Seriously, Tevin Coleman is out and Breida should garner the majority of the backfield touches. I think last week’s poor game was an anomaly, as Breida averaged 5.3 yards per carry and 9.7 yards per reception last season. Chris Carson scored 21.1 FanDuel points against this Bengals defense last week and I expect Breida to be closer to that point total than his own 3.7. $5,600 for Breida this week is a bargain.
Additional Value Pick: Chris Thompson ($5,300, DAL @ WAS) received 10 targets and scored 11.3 FanDuel points in week one. Derrius Guice is out this week and the Redskins will likely be trailing, meaning Thompson should total a high number of targets and catches again this week.
WR: Tyler Boyd ($6,300, SF @ CIN)
Tyler Boyd was outshined by John Ross III in week one but he still managed to catch 8 of 11 targets for 10.3 Fanduel points. Ross will likely receive a bit more attention over the top to prevent him from repeating his performance from last week, opening up more of the field for Boyd to work. Boyd had a breakout year last year, setting career highs in every receiving category and with AJ Green still sidelined I expect more of the same.
WR: John Brown ($6,300, BUF @ NYG)
John Brown is a viable deep threat and that pairs well with a quarterback that has the arm strength of Josh Allen. Week one saw Brown and Allen hook up seven times, including a 38-yard touchdown that ultimately gave the Bills the comeback win.
Brown received 10 targets in the contest and clearly is a favorite target of his young quarterback. The Bills visit the Giants defense that allowed Dak Prescott to pass for 405 yards and four touchdowns a week ago, making John Brown a great investment for $6,300.
Additional Value Pick: Michael Gallup ($6,200, DAL @ WAS) had 158 yards receiving last week as he caught all seven of his targets. He has become a viable receiver and is a solid budget-friendly option on Sunday.
TE: Darren Waller ($4,800, KC @ OAK)
Darren Waller had a solid week one performance at tight end as the Raiders were impressive on offense. Waller caught seven of eight targets for 70 yards, giving him a solid 10.5 FanDuel points.
As evidenced by my Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs pick, I am high on the Raiders this week because of their first-week performance, matchup with Kansas City, and relatively low price tags. Tyrell Williams would’ve likely made the list if I hadn’t already selected three other Raiders.
Additional Value Pick: Mark Andrews ($6,100 ARI @ BAL) has continued to show that he is a favorite target of Lamar Jackson. I had him in this same spot last week and he performed well, catching eight of eight targets for 108 yards and a touchdown. This Cardinals defense gave up 131 yards and a touchdown to rookie tight end T.J. Hockenson in Week 1.
DEF: 49ers ($3,700 @ CIN)
The 49ers defense was the top scoring defense in week 1 thanks in large part to two defensive touchdowns and a turnover machine known as Jameis Winston. This week they take on a Bengals team that allowed five sacks and lost three fumbles in week one, making them a great deal at $3,700.
Additional Value Pick: Packers ($3,900 vs MIN) The Packers stifled the Bears offense in week one, registering five sacks and only allowing three points. They play at home this weekend against another division rival and are a decent value at a low price.
