FanDuel Week 3 Value Plays — Matthew Stafford, Aaron Jones, and Marquise Brown are among this week’s sneaky FanDuel plays that won’t break the bank.
The FanDuel Dollar Menu provides you with a list of players that provide excellent value for you each week in FanDuel contests. You know, the same way that the dollar menu at your favorite fast-food restaurant provides you with a meal that may not be gourmet but it fills you up without breaking the bank.
FanDuel Dollar Menu – Week 3 Value Picks
QB: Matthew Stafford ($6,900, DET @ PHI)
Matthew Stafford is off to a good start this season. Through two games he has completed 49 of 75 passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns. Those stats have him ranked as the fifth-highest scorer at the quarterback position going into his week three matchup with the 31st ranked pass defense of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles have allowed opposing passers to score an average of 24.65 FanDuel points through the first two weeks. Stafford is priced as the 20th quarterback in the Sunday FanDuel main slate, making him a great value at quarterback.
Additional Value Pick: Daniel Jones ($6,000 NYG @ TB) was very impressive in the preseason and is clearly the best quarterback option for the Giants at this point. He is priced as low as a quarterback can be as the Giants visit Tampa Bay, making him worth a shot if you are working with a limited quarterback budget.
RB: Aaron Jones ($6,900, DEN @ GB)
I am doubling down on the Joneses by following up on my Daniel Jones pick with Aaron Jones. Jones has shown incredible skill and potential throughout his young career but he hasn’t always received ample opportunities.
That appears to be changing this season as he has 41 touches through the first two games and he is coming into week three red hot after posting 23 FanDuel points last week. The Broncos defense struggled against the run last season and it appears to be their weak spot again this year as they are ranked 23rd against the rush after two weeks. Jones is priced below many other backs that he will likely outperform this week.
RB: Peyton Barber ($6,100, NYG @ TB)
Peyton Barber had a solid week two performance after a disappointing week one. He carried the ball 23 times for 82 yards and a touchdown against the Luke Kuechly-led Panthers defense.
Week 3 brings the 28th ranked defense of the New York Giants to town, which should translate to a successful week for Barber and the Bucs running game. I expect a similar stat line, making him a solid play for $6,100.
Additional Value Pick: Carlos Hyde ($6,000, HOU @ LAC) has gotten the majority of carries for the Texans through two weeks. He faces a Chargers defense that struggled against the run last season and has been torched by Marlon Mack and Kerryon Johnson to begin this season.
WR: Marquise Brown ($6,100, BAL @ KC)
Marquise Brown lit the world on fire in his NFL debut on his way to 28.7 FanDuel points. He followed that up with a solid performance in week two that gave him 12.6 FanDuel points. While that is a solid number, the encouraging part of his week two performance is that he received 13 targets.
Brown is a lightning-fast receiver that has big-play potential every time he touches the ball. The fact that he is getting this much opportunity creates huge upside for Brown moving forward. The Ravens will be looking to keep pace with the explosive Chiefs offense, meaning “Hollywood” and the Ravens offense will need to produce some big plays of their own.
WR: Nelson Agholor ($4,800, DET @ PHI)
Nelson Agholor found himself quickly moving from number three on the wide receiver depth chart to number one as both Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery left Sunday’s game with injuries. Agholor filled in very well as the de facto number one by catching eight passes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
All indications point to Jackson and Jeffery missing their week three contest against the Lions, leaving the door wide open for Agholor to have another big game. At $4,800, his potential return on investment is through the roof.
Additional Value Pick: Larry Fitzgerald ($5,900, CAR @ ARI) appears rejuvenated to begin this season. He has 34.2 FanDuel points going into week three and has double-digit targets in each of the first two games.
TE: Austin Hooper ($5,800, ATL @ IND)
Austin Hooper has already caught 13 of 15 targets this season and has become a reliable weapon for Matt Ryan. He has more points than guys like George Kittle and O.J. Howard at a cheaper price this week. He will continue to be a solid option because of his target share and high catch rate.
Additional Value Pick: Jason Witten ($5,000 MIA @ DAL) has returned from his short-lived retirement by catching a touchdown in each of the first two games. He does have a relatively low ceiling at this point and is very touchdown-dependent but for $5,000 there are much worse options.
DEF: Buccaneers ($4,300 vs NYG)
The Buccaneers defense is averaging 10.5 FanDuel points per game to begin the season. They welcome a rookie quarterback making his first career start to Raymond James Stadium on Sunday. They have a high floor and ceiling this week at $4,300.
Additional Value Pick: Vikings ($4,200 vs OAK) The Vikings have begun the season by facing two elite quarterbacks and have only allowed 33 points. They have 22 total FanDuel points in those contests and host the Raiders this week.
