These fantasy football sleepers for Week 11 are players to keep an eye on and maybe even add to your list of waiver wire pickups and free agent adds this week. Follow Matthew J. Jillson on Twitter at @eatcookcryptos.
The final battle is quickly approaching. Your ability to stiff arm or spin move into waiver wire salvation is a diminished glimmer in the darkness; these hopes traveled far west along with the elves of the second age. Incessantly pouring over stats in the bowels of your man cave while the respectable members of society sleep, hoping to find some remedy to whatever current ailment your roster faces, isn’t going to help much this late in the season — for all those who are dependable are already long taken. Dig deep in your gut, tune out whatever nay saying voice is droning in the background and hold the course with the team that brought you this far.
Careful friend, we’re deep in second guessing yourself territory. A hazy bog of misty illusions, showing what possible victories your team can realize only if. The cold fear of missing out (FOMO) — that has claimed many a fantasy manager over the years — slowly taking hold of your heart while you marvel at this spectacle of greatness. FOMO will let you abandon the plan, it will make you wrongly think you’ve found thee magic bullets that will guarantee victory only to underperform, FOMO will ruin your season if you let it. Play the roster you’ve been building for this moment since Week 1.

Late season trickery in the starting slots tends to end poorly. Baring bouts with The Curse, the plan we’ve been following is to build a team that has favorable matchups down the stretch that of course enjoy scoring multiple touchdowns. Having crossed the point of no return on trades — the rations we’ve brought into the wilderness will have to be enough to power us for the rest of journey. Emotion is dangerous during this leg of the adventure. Questions of “will we make it” get scary when they’re real.
The rising tube of flaming heart burn in your chest will only grow more intense as these last few weeks carry on. There will be ample opportunity to make things worse on yourself. You are not in survival mode, though, you have planned for this. Trust in the method and follow the roadmap. Stand tall and play the hand you’ve been dealt.
Week 11 Sleepers
Jaylen Samuels (RB/TE, Pittsburgh Steelers, 1% owned)
Life after Le’Veon Bell doesn’t seem so bad. I imagine when the clock struck 4pm EST Tuesday and Bell didn’t report that a great weight was lifted off many a team’s shoulders who carried this albatross all season. I’m sure those who just traded for him are still hot, though. Haha, wow, Yeti Steve. Jaylen Samuels is John Connor’s back up, we’re just covering bases here. Samuels also carries the tight end designation in addition to running back, which can give him some versatility in a very thin position. Imagine a world where maybe Connor goes down with a concussion again and you are suddenly playing Pittsburgh’s starting RB in your tight end slot. Looking like Crypto Cabo 2020.
Malcolm Brown (RB, Los Angeles Rams, 5% owned)
The Rams are looking sharp, sharp enough to cut glass — definitely playoff bound. At what point do they lock up their berth and start resting their stars? Candidate No. 1 for taking a break is Todd Gurley. I predict it will be quite painful to lose such a stud in Week 15 or 16, especially if you don’t prepare for it. It could be time to get rid of that bench player who has taken up valuable oxygen up on your squad doing absolutely nothing — Taylor Gabriel comes to mind when I think like this.
Ty Montgomery (RB, Baltimore Ravens, 14% owned)
Baltimore has a very favorable schedule down the stretch: Cincy, Oakland, Atlanta, KC and Tampa Bay — these are not scary run or pass defending teams. Baltimore’s backfield is as crowded as it gets but these matchups could favor a pass catching back, which puts Ty Montgomery on the radar. The truth is, if you are considering Monty, it’s because you’ve been abused by The Curse and we’re late in the season; good luck finding value in deep leagues. Lamar Jackson has a chance to step in for an injured Joe Flacco, add a weak schedule and you might have a recipe for a late-season smash and grab.
Jonnu Smith (TE, Tennessee Titans, 1% owned)
The Titans beat New England? I don’t know what the hell is going on here, but the Titans seem hot and Jonnu Smith has scored in his last two games. This seems pretty touchdown-dependent but Tennessee’s offense is beginning to adjust late in the season and it’s including a lot more opportunity for Smith. Every week is rough for the tight end position but this week with 6 teams on bye is especially painful. With a matchup against Tennessee, Jonnu could be looking for some pay dirt in the end zone.
Lamar Jackson (QB, Baltimore Ravens, 8% owned)
This is a sneaky grab, maybe too sneaky. As mentioned earlier, Flacco is injured, may or may not play and Baltimore’s schedule is looking ripe for a young, exciting playmaker to take advantage of. At a certain point, Baltimore is going to want to see what they have in Lamar Jackson and that sometime could be this week against Cincinnati, a team that just got torched for 51 points by New Orleans. If you have roster space or are hurting at quarterback, you might want to roll the chicken bones on this one.
Crypto Corner (NOT financial advice)
- Digital wallet provider Blockchain plans to airdrop $125 million worth of Stellar Lumens ($XLM) to its users. I’m a fan of free stuff and I also think $XLM has real potential to catch on. For those new to cryptocurrency, this is a good chance to set yourself up with a secure digital wallet and get a little Stellar to start you off, sign up HERE.
- Bitcoin Cash ($BCH) has a planned hard fork scheduled for Thursday November 15th. This is perhaps the most drama filled battle scene you will find in all of crypto as it pits the future vision for $BCH between two of its more outspoken and controversial figures: Craig Wright and Roger Ver. On Thursday $BCH will essentially split 1:1. For each Bitcoin Cash you hodl you will receive 1 $BCHABC (Ver backed) and 1 $BCHSV (Wright backed) coin. This hard fork is supported by the major crypto exchanges and will be automatic.
- Blockchain based game, Decentraland has announced its second public land auction the second week of December. Similar to the online virtual world game Second Life, Decentrland is an online virtual World build on the Etherium blockchain that will be a virtual reality platform utilizing $MANA as a digital currency. Second life users at the height of its popularity generated $70 million in earnings annually from their virtual goods on only 1 million users. An interesting concept that due to being constructed on the Etherium network will essentially be timeless.
