Week 10 Buy Low, Sell High: Trading is one of the best parts of the fantasy football season as it can make or break your success in a given year. Every league is different with roster makeup and which players fantasy managers value more than others, so the trade market may be different from league to league. With that being said, here are some players that should be bought low and others that should be sold high heading into this week.
Fantasy Football Buy-Low Candidates
Michael Carter (RB, NYJ)
Coming out of a tough game against the Colts, Michael Carter might be in great buy-low territory. Carter has a tight hold on this Jet’s backfield as he maintains the highest share of the carries while he also has a nice target share. The Jets had to change up their game plan quickly in Week 9 as they lost Mike White early and started letting up a decent amount of points on defense. That forced them to push the ball downfield with Josh Johnson as the quarterback which didn’t bode well to Carter’s overall value.
An upcoming matchup against the Bills might be a tough one but then the Jets move into favorable games against the Dolphins and the Texans which should provide a great opportunity for Carter to succeed.
Brandin Cooks (WR, HOU)
While being a member of one of the worst teams in the entire league, Brandin Cooks has been showing some flashes while being, quite literally, the only decent weapon the Texans have on their roster. With Tyrod Taylor as his starting quarterback early in the season, Cooks was performing well up until Taylor was hit by injury and forced to IR.
Now Taylor is back and while he did perform poorly in Week 9, Cooks was still seeing a large chunk of the targets. Coming out of their Week 10 bye, the Texans have one of the easier wide receiver schedules in the NFL. With them constantly having to come from behind, we could see a great second half for Brandin Cooks with Tyrod back at the helm.
Aaron Jones (RB, GB)
Aaron Jones might be an expensive buy low as running backs are hard to come by but he is coming off a rough game where Jordan Love was the quarterback for the Packers and A.J. Dillon received a decent share of the workload. That may panic the Jones owner, depending on where they’re at in the standings.
I expect Aaron Jones to be back to his usual production and share of the workload once Aaron Rodgers returns to the team so now might be a great buy-low opportunity on one of the better running backs in fantasy football.
Darrell Henderson (RB, LAR)
The Rams were completely shut down in all facets of the game against the Titans. That resulted in a poor fantasy performance for Darrell Henderson while touchdowns weren’t prevalent for Los Angeles. He’s had a couple of poor performances in their past three games so Henderson owners might be getting a little shaky with their running back.
This could be a nice time to buy low on his value as the Rams are normally one of the more efficient offenses while they give Henderson nice run lanes in the majority of their games.
Fantasy Football Sell-High Candidates
Marquise Brown (WR, BAL)
Marquise Brown is having a great bounce-back year after he struggled to produce in his second season. He’s been one of Lamar Jackson’s main targets as he continues to be a deep threat for this Ravens offense that is shifting toward a more pass-heavy approach. Brown has been very valuable but I can’t get over the potential Rashod Bateman shows as a receiver in this offense.
Hollywood and Bateman are two different kinds of receivers but it is certainly within the realm of possibilities that Bateman starts to take more of Brown’s targets as he further familiarizes himself with this offense. Marquise Brown is a great name to own, but right now, you could get some better value for him as he’s been a borderline WR1 this season. Coming into an easy game against the Dolphins where he will surely perform, you could sell Brown for a pretty penny before Week 11.
Deebo Samuel (WR, SF)
This one could be contentious but hear me out. Deebo Samuel has been a great player for fantasy rosters as he’s placed himself among the top-5 receivers in football this season. However, the 49ers are not winning football games with Jimmy Garoppolo and they could be moving toward starting their first-round quarterback, Trey Lance. If this occurs, which it most likely will with how the 49ers have been playing, Deebo Samuel will lose a lot of his opportunities as the offense will completely shift toward a more run-centric game.
We saw in their Week 5 game against Arizona, where Lance started from beginning to end, that the 49ers looked like a different team on offense. They were consistently running read options with their young quarterback and there really wasn’t much efficiency when it came to the passing attack. Samuel finished with 3 receptions for 58 yards and 1 touchdown rush for 13 yards that saved his fantasy day. With Lance at the helm, this team should look much different and it will not be benefiting Samuel nearly as much as this current offense is with Garoppolo at quarterback.
Damien Harris (RB, NE)
Damien Harris has been a beneficiary of Cam Newton not being part of this offense anymore as he receives the bulk of the touchdown opportunities. But now with Rhamondre Stevenson getting more involved as well as Brandon Bolden, Harris might be very touchdown reliant for the remainder of the season.
This could also easily go back to Rhamondre Stevenson being benched and used during special game plans but as of now, Harris’ season-long outlook isn’t looking too hot while the other running backs are seeing increased involvement.
Myles Gaskin (RB, MIA)
Myles Gaskin could be a permanent member of the sell-high club if he continues to have decent fantasy outputs with no real-life efficiency. Gaskin received a whopping 20 carries against the Texan’s poor defense but he only managed to come away with 34 rushing yards. That comes out to an insanely inefficient 1.7 yards per carry.
I don’t know what it is but Gaskin’s on-field production shouldn’t be translating to these decent performances but he keeps getting random touchdowns. Unless you want to be around for the frustrating ride Gaskin has ahead of him, I’d consider selling now for a decent asset in return.
