The NFL trade deadline has passed, leaving some familiar faces in new places in its wake. Here are today’s biggest moves, and how they will impact your fantasy football team.
Redskins Acquire Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
The Washington Redskins acquired safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix from the Packers on Tuesday, according to a source. Clinton-Dix is in the final year of his deal and the Packers had no interest in extending him long term. The 25-year-old safety has been having a good year, recording 27 tackles with a sack, forced fumble and three interceptions. His loss will surely be felt in Green Bay’s secondary, while Washington’s underrated defense will be even stronger for the second half.
Rams Acquiring Dante Fowler
The Los Angeles Rams acquired defensive end Dante Fowler from the Jaguars on Tuesday, according to a source. Fowler was the third overall pick in the 2015 draft, but he’s been mostly a bust for the Jags and has become a rotational pass-rusher. The Rams have more of a need for him, however, and Fowler could see more playing time moving forward. He has just eight tackles and two sacks in seven games for the Jaguars this year.

Eagles Trade for Golden Tate
The Philadelphia Eagles are trading for Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate on Tuesday in exchange for a third-round pick, according to a source. Tate had been a WR2 for fantasy owners but hadn’t topped 50 yards or scored since Sept. 30. The move will boost his fantasy value and put him back as more of a reliable WR2 behind Alshon Jeffery. Nelson Agholor, who predictably faded with Jeffery’s return, is hurt the most by this trade and can be left to the waiver wire in most formats. Jordan Matthews also takes a hit and will now be fourth on the depth chart in Philly. In Detroit, Tate’s departure is excellent news for both Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones. TJ Jones should now enter three-receiver sets and might be worth a pickup in deeper PPR leagues.
Ravens Trade For Ty Montgomery
The Baltimore Ravens acquired running back Ty Montgomery from the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, according to a source. The Packers shipped Montgomery away after a crucial fumble on a kickoff return in the Week 8 loss to the Rams. He hadn’t done much on the season for Green Bay, having no more than five carries or 31 rushing yards in a single week. He’ll boost the depth behind Alex Collins in Baltimore but is mainly just a handcuff and nothing more. His presence is bad news for Javorius Allen, who has been phased out of the offense in recent weeks. Back in Green Bay, Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams should continue splitting the workload in the backfield, with Jones having more upside in fantasy.
Texans Acquiring Demaryius Thomas
Updating a previous report, the Houston Texans are acquiring Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas on Tuesday with salary-cap hits of $4.5 million in 2018 and a non-guaranteed $14 million in 2019 (zero dead cap). The Broncos will take on dead cap hits of $7.5 million this year and $3.5 million in 2019. Denver will also receive a mid-round pick from Houston. Thomas should see a boost in his fantasy value going to Houston, but he’ll be the No. 2 behind DeAndre Hopkins. Rookie Keke Coutee, who sat out last week with a hamstring injury, should take on slot duties when he returns, but his upside will be limited now that Thomas is entering the fold. Rookie Courtland Sutton will now be Denver’s No. 2 wideout behind Emmanuel Sanders. He needs to be owned in all leagues.
