Streaming Defense Week 11: A few fantasy D/ST options to consider this week and next, including a Raiders squad with extremely high upside against the Bengals.
As we get closer to the end of the season, the need for streaming defenses is going to be less and less. But the importance of it isn’t. For those trying to secure a spot in the playoffs, or get a high seed, keep diligent about getting that W every single week. If you need a defense, I have the perfect one for you. But only one. From now one, I will only be writing about one defense that is a great streaming option in deeper leagues. This is due to many leagues having multiple team owners not caring anymore, so there should be plenty of quality options available. But for those who are in a league of die-hards who never say never, I’ll be there for you (like I’ve been there before). I also will give you potential streaming options to pick up for next week, my friend.

Steal this Treasure: Oakland Raiders
Yesterday I had some free time, so I figured I’d write this week’s article. As I started to do my research, I noticed that the Oakland Raiders were an obvious choice to stream, especially since they were owned in less than 5% of leagues.
With yesterday being the waiver wire period, I figured most teams needing a streaming option would pick them up, so I decided to hold off on writing my article so I could choose a team that was owned in less than 40% of leagues. Well, apparently nobody sees the treasure that I do with the Raiders because they are still owned in less than 5% of leagues.
Coming off their best defensive performance this season, the Raiders look poised to repeat their dominance this week. Against the Chargers last Thursday, a team that has been looking impressive lately, they managed to sack Phillip Rivers five times (Raiders are averaging 3 sacks per game over the past 5 weeks), and intercept Rivers three times (one leading to a touchdown).
With the terrible Bengals coming to town who have yet to win a game, featuring a new quarterback and not A.J. Green, this is an easy pick that has extremely high upside.
Verdict: With Ryan Finley leading the offense, Cincinnati is not going to put up very many points. Throwing for less than 200 yards and barely over a .500 completion rate (also turning over the ball twice), Finley doesn’t have the talent to put up big numbers. One potential issue though with this steaming option is the lack of opportunities. Last week, the Bengals ran much more than they should have, even when they were down big to Baltimore.
Most teams would throw the ball in that situation, but I do not believe the coaching staff wanted to put that much responsibility on a new quarterback; the game script should be different this week. Oakland will not pull out ahead as far as Baltimore did, so the game will be more competitive. Plus, the Raiders have a top-ten defense against stopping the run and one of the worst pass stopping defense, so this is a matchup to give the young quarterback some confidence. Because of this, look for the opportunities to be there for the defense to capitalize.
Prediction: PA: 10-14, Total Yards: 200-250, Sacks: 3, Fumbles: 0, Interceptions: 3, TD: 1, Fantasy Points: 14-20
