Believe it or not, it is possible to gain an advantage in fantasy football each week with the many streaming kickers who are available on the waiver wire.
It’s not often that a kicker makes headlines in fantasy football. However, in Week 12 everyone was talking about Chris Boswell. At the end of the first half Boswell was sent out to attempt a chip shot field goal. However, instead of taking the field goal attempt, the Steelers set up a fake and Boswell took a direct snap and threw a touchdown pass.

While it is impossible to predict when a kicker will be in a position to throw touchdown passes, it is possible to maximize the opportunity that a kicker provide your team each week in fantasy football. Looking at a variety of factors, it is possible to find a great kicking option each week off of the waiver wire. Week 13 is approaching and many teams need a win in order to clinch a playoff spot. The following streaming kickers can give your team the advantage it needs to solidify a playoff spot this year.
Cody Parkey (CHI)
Cody Parkey has been a top 12 kicker this season yet is only 32% owned. Parkey should see a spike in his ownership percentage this week considering he is going against the Giants. The Giants have been a goldmine for opposing kickers. Kickers going against the Giants have averaged nearly 12 points per game this season, which is easily the best in the league. Parkey has been inconsistent this year, but he has eclipsed 10 points in two of his last four outings. Given the great matchup and the ability of the Bears offense to move the ball, Parkey should be in for a great Week 13.
Stephen Hauschka (BUF)
It may seem risky to rely on a Bills player in Week 13 of the fantasy football season. However, Stephen Hauschka has been automatic this season, converting on all but one of his field goal attempts this season and has converted on all of his extra point attempts.
The Bills offense looked impressive enough last week against a strong Jaguars defense and gets a much easier matchup this week against the Dolphins, who have allowed the 5th most fantasy points per game to opposing kickers so far this season. Against an easy matchup Hauschka should be given plenty of opportunities to kick, and when he has been given the opportunity this season, he has been money.
Greg Zuerlein (LAR)/Harrison Butker (KC)
The rationale behind this pick is the same for both kickers. Both Greg Zuerlein and Harrison Butker were on BYE last week and may have seen a dip in ownership percentage due to the fact that many owners do not like to carry two kickers on their roster.
Zuerlein saw his ownership percentage dip to 86% and Butker saw his ownership percentage dip to 74%. While I usually focus on kickers owned in less than 33% of leagues, these two kickers are so dominant that I had to mention them in this week’s column given the circumstances. Zuerlein has been held under 10 points in just one game this season and Butker has been averaging over 9 points per game this season. Both of these kickers are on elite offenses that not only provide extra point opportunities but provide plenty of field goal attempts as well. If either of these two studs are available on the waiver wire this week, pick them up without hesitation and ride with them into the fantasy playoffs.
