Week 3 Streaming Quarterbacks: Gunslingers to consider if you’re living the stream, including Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Tannehill and Derek Carr.

Let’s get this out of the way right off the bat: If for some reason, Patrick Mahomes, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Carson Wentz (he’s back, people!), Jimmy Garoppolo or Andy Dalton are on your waiver wire, go get them immediately. Believe it or not, I’m still seeing leagues where these guys aren’t owned (Shame on you if you’re a part of that problem). Get them, start them, and don’t even think about it until the bye weeks. I accept thanks in the form of baked goods (Pie, preferably).

For those living in the real fantasy world, let’s get to streamers for Week 3.

Week 3 Streaming Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor (CLE)

Look, I get it. Tyrod Taylor hasn’t really lit it up these first two weeks. That being said, it almost looked like the Browns realized Antonio Callaway was a real person there in Week 2. If David Njoku gets the real-boy treatment too, this offense is still ready to rock, even sans Josh Gordon. The Jets defense isn’t anything to sneeze at anymore (allowing 11.81 points to QB’s through two weeks). But they can still be had. If you’re desperate this week, fire up Tyrod and go get those points.

Matt Ryan (ATL)

Matt Ryan is just so frustrating. He should belong in that top tier considering the weapons at his disposal (by the way, go get Austin Hopper, fools!) That being said, he’s just not consistent enough for a lot of owners to keep him around. I’m seeing him on a lot of waiver wires in my leagues. The Falcons are hosting the Saints this weekend, people, it’s gonna be bonkers. Oh, did I mention that the Saints are allowing the third most points to QB’s through Week 2? Start everyone in this game. Including Ryan.

Derek Carr (OAK)

This has got to qualify as the least sexy pick of the week (though Tyrod is a close second). Did you watch that Denver game, though? Derek Carr looked good. Really good. Almost record-breaking good. If Coach Jon Gruden’s got this thing figured out well enough to hit the Denver defense with some stats, I’m alright with rolling Carr out against the Dolphins this weekend. Now don’t get me wrong, the Dolphins are allowing the third fewest fantasy points to QB’s so far this season. That being said, they’ve only played a messed up Titans team and a rookie quarterback. Let’s see how they do against an (arguably) NFL level offense. Speaking of which…

Ryan Tannehill (MIA)

Has anyone noticed that the Dolphins actually have a better record than the Patriots this year? I know, it’s only Week 3. But still, wowzers. It’s starting to look like these Dolphins aren’t a fluke, either. They’re not lighting everyone up, but they’ve quietly been solid. Besides, I’m starting everyone against this Raiders defense. You might notice that the Raiders have actually been fairly solid against the quarterback position, but let’s not get crazy here. Ryan Tannehill has a better line than Case Keenum has ever had. Don’t expect Jared Goff-type numbers, but you should be getting up in the high teens to low 20’s. Bank on it.

Mitch Trubisky (CHI)

Oh my goodness, the Cardinals look back. I mean really bad. Now look, the Bears aren’t the Rams. Nobody is (or should be) saying that. But they CAN score some points. They can, and will, this week. I’m sure you’re all starting Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen, as you should, but don’t sleep on Mitch Trubisky. I might fade Aleb Robinson a bit if he’s facing Patrick Peterson a bunch, but go have yourself a day, Trey Burton! But seriously, fire up Trubisky this week. Besides, if you want to take a deep dive here, the Cardinals defense actually has been pretty effective against the run. Gurley was held to 42 yards, people. Sure, he scored three touchdowns, but that yardage isn’t a fluke. They’ve given up the most points to the RB position among defenses, but almost all of it has been to pass catching backs (or, monstrosities like Gurley that just do everything). Either way, this team can be had through the air.

Matthew Stafford (DET)

Stafford falls solidly into the Matt Ryan category of frustration. I get it, sometimes the guy looks like a world-beater, and sometimes he just looks plain beat. Here’s the deal though, that Lions defense is bad, there’s no way around it. Fantasy production is all about volume, and considering the Lions lack of a rushing attack (STILL!) and that bad defense, you should start Stafford every single week that he’s got a decent matchup. Unfortunately, for Patriots fans everywhere, the Pats are looking like a decent matchup. They’re allowing the eighth most points to QB’s this year, right at 21.81 per game. That includes Houston’s broken offensive line, too. Start him.
