Although it is hard to believe that bye weeks are already upon us, it is critical that we take them into account when exploiting low-ownership percentages and price points. There are some awesome matchups to exploit this week and some great bargains as well. With that being said, let’s get right into the picks.
Case Keenum ($5,600, DEN) and Emmanuel Sanders ($6,900, DEN)
Although Case Keenum has been nothing short of average thus far, he gets to face a defense, Kansas City, that has allowed 362.7 passing yards per game this season. He also gets the Monday night spotlight at home which seems to always boost players’ stats. Kansas City will surely score the ball this game and Keenum will need to throw a lot to give his team a chance to succeed.
The pairing of Keenum with Emmanuel Sanders is a no-brainer this week as Sanders has been on a tear to start the season and playing against perhaps the worst defense in the league. If you are looking for a lower-owned player, stack Keenum with Demaryius Thomas as that connection could potentially be lethal as well.
Eli Manning ($5,600, NYG) and Sterling Shepard ($4,900, NYG)
Let’s face it: Drew Brees was unstoppable last week. Brees, Michael Thomas, and Alvin Kamara have all been fantastic to start the year and I expect no different in this game. Having such a high-powered offense coming to town, Eli Manning needs to be constantly slinging the ball to keep this game realistically close. Sterling Shepard is in a great spot here as with Marshon Lattimore on Odell Beckham Jr., granted Lattimore has been struggling as of late, and with Evan Engram out, Shepard should see anywhere from 6-10 targets in this contest.
James White ($5,400, NE)
With Rex Burkhead out for perhaps the entire season, it is just White and Sonny Michel in the backfield. Facing the somewhat stingy Dolphin’s run defense, 89 yards allowed on the ground per game, Michel could have trouble finding room to rumble this game. With the Dolphins known to keeps things close with the Patriots, White could be in for a huge day as his pass catching abilities cannot and have not been ignored by the Pats organization.
Giovani Bernard ($6,300, CIN)
Giovani Bernard is a must have in lineups this week. He goes up against Atlanta’s defense, which has been dead last in passing yards allowed to running backs thus far, conceding a whopping 15 receptions for 124 yards against Kamara last week and 14 receptions for 102 yards against Christian McCaffrey two weeks ago. Bernard is in an absolute smash spot this week.
Mike Williams ($4,500, LAC)
After a two-touchdown week last week, Mike Williams is in another great spot this week. Although this could turn into a heavy dose of LA running if they beat up on San Francisco quickly, Williams still has at least an entire half of potential production ahead of him. With Keenan Allen not 100%, Williams could be the favorite target for Philip Rivers this week.
Eric Ebron ($3,600, IND)
Eric Ebron has been a consistent producer with Jack Doyle on the shelf. Although last week he was largely kept in check, he had 11 targets come his way. Houston has been average against tight ends this season and it should be another high target game from Ebron.
O.J. Howard ($3,500, TB)
After three consecutive weeks of over 50 yards of receiving, O.J. Howard has finally taken the job from Cameron Brate. He is one of the most talented tight ends in the league, he just needs more volume. Going up against a solid Bears defense will be a tough matchup no doubt, but the volume is finally there for a tight end that has deserved it ever since being drafted into the league. Chicago will put up some points in this one and Fitzmagic will need to show up yet again.
Jacksonville ($4,100)
A theme throughout the first couple of weeks on this series has been paying up for defenses. Although that didn’t work out last week with Minnesota, this week will be different. The Jaguars are at home this week against a rookie quarterback with limited weapons. This should be a good game for the top priced defense this week.
