It’s Week 6, and you may be in need of a quarterback who can move the sticks. Or, maybe you need a defense that can hold down the fort for just one week.
Now, the challenge here is bye weeks, injuries, and not much quality quarterback play available on the waiver wire. Nevertheless, we must have someone in our starting QB spot.
If you do not have one of the usual starters available this week, here are some Week 6 streaming quarterbacks and defenses that just may get you by during the bye.
Week 6 streaming quarterbacks
Jimmy Garoppolo (SF)
Jimmy may get more notoriety from his looks than his quarterback play, but this should be a good week for him. He gets to play the Atlanta Falcons D/ST. The Falcons have given up an average of 290 yards per game to the quarterback position over the past five weeks. Garoppolo doesn’t have to be great, because he has great weapons. Start all of his receiving options as well. This should be a beatdown in favor of the 49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Daniel Jones (NYG)
This is not a name I can recommend often, but this week Daniel Jones gets the chance to play the Ravens D/ST. The Ravens’ secondary has not played well in any game this season. They are now a defense to target for all of your fantasy options. This is not Ray Lewis shut down defense it used to be. Take advantage of this secondary, and your fantasy matchup by starting Daniel Jones. To convince you even more, the Ravens’ are given up 305.8 yards per game to the quarterback position. If you do not have a better option feel more than comfortable with Jones this week.
Zach Wilson (NYJ)
This pick is not an exciting one, and by no means would I consider this unless I was absolutely desperate. However, looking at most of my waiver wires Zach Wilson is readily available. The other options are Marcus Mariota, Kenny Pickett, or Jacoby Brissett. So, he the best of what’s left. With that being said, if he’s your best option start him because some points are better than no points.
Week 6 streaming defenses
Panthers D/ST
The Rams offense hasn’t been explosive, and that can mainly be attributed to their offensive line. The Panthers may not have an elite defense, but they have proved formidable at times this season. They should be able to get to the quarterback on a couple of occasions, and they may even force Matthew Stafford into a mistake or two.
Browns D/ST
The Browns D/ST gets the chance to play against an injured Mac Jones or the rookie Bailey Zappe. That should prove a great matchup for the Browns no matter which quarterback is under center, though at this point it looks like it’ll be Zappe. The Patriots are going to pivot to the run game, but they have to throw the ball at some point. Start the Browns D/ST and look for them to take advantage of an injured, or inexperienced quarterback.
