Allen Robinson II has quickly become the favorite target of Andy Dalton throughout Bears camp and the veteran receiver said “Honestly, I think that me and Andy have connected a lot, just as far as, I think we’ve been pretty efficient.” While rookie Jusin Fields has been spreading the ball out quite a bit, Adam Jahns with The Athletic noted that Dalton has been doing his best to get the ball in the hands of Chicago’s top playmakers.
Fantasy Impact: Dalton appears set to become the best quarterback that Robinson has ever played with throughout his career. After back-to-back top-10 seasons as a wide receiver in fantasy football, Robinson’s consensus ranking as WR10 seems to be a rare ability to draft an elite player at his floor. Robinson has commanded 150-plus targets in consecutive seasons, which is about the same rate that Dalton targeted his favorite receiver, A.J. Green, throughout their tenure in Cincinnati. Both Robinson and Darnell Mooney have commented on Dalton’s willingness to work with the receivers and help them add a bit of freedom and nuance to their route-running, focusing on offspeed routes and different angles of attack. Robinson isn’t a high-end athlete and uses his size, strength, and technical abilities to garner his receptions, so a veteran like Dalton could help elevate his ceiling. Although Fields has been turning heads at camp with his big arm and fast legs, having Dalton under center could benefit Robinson a bit more.
