New England Patriots QB Cam Newton throws for 49 yards on 4 for 7 passes in the preseason opener against the Washington Football Team.
Fantasy Impact: It’s clear at this point in Cam Newton’s career that he is limited as a passer. His average depth of target was 0.7 yards, according to PFF. Preseason games aren’t a cause for concern, but we should expect Newton to be the same player we saw in 2020. Early in the first quarter, DE Chase Young sacked Newton, and he fumbled the ball. Cam’s primary fantasy value this season will be as a goal-line rusher. He had 12 TDs on the ground last season.
