According to Pat Leonard on Twitter, New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton’s excused absence from Tuesday’s practice was due to the player and his agent deliberating taking a pay cut from the Giants.
Fantasy Impact: Slayton has slipped down the depth chart for the Giants and is now behind Kadarius Toney, Kenny Golladay, Wan’Dale Robinson, Sterling Shepard, and according to the unofficial depth chart released by the team, David Sills. The Giants asking Slayton to take a pay cut suggests they could not find a team to pay the asking price for the young receiver. If released by the team, Slayton, who has eclipsed 740 receiving yards in two of his first three seasons, should find his way onto the active roster of a wide receiver needy team. This is a situation to monitor, as a release would likely be a boon for his fantasy value.
