Los Angeles Rams HC Sean McVay stated last week that veteran RB Darrell Henderson sustained a minor soft tissue injury. Henderson was absent at the Rams OTAs on Tuesday as a result of the injury.
Fantasy Impact: All indications are that this is a minor injury and isn’t expected to cause Henderson to miss an extended period of time. Henderson thrived as the Rams’ workhorse RB last season before getting injured in a Week 12 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. Through the first 12 weeks of the season, Henderson was functioning as an RB1 in all scoring formats. Henderson’s role in the offense is an uncertain one moving forward as 3rd year RB Cam Akers is fully recovered from a torn achilles and is the current favorite to lead the team’s rushing attack. McVay has been known to heavily feature one lead RB in his offenses and he’s one of the few coaches in the league that doesn’t typically rely on an RB committee. Fantasy managers will want to monitor this backfield closely during training camp. If training camp reports confirm that Akers appears to be the lead RB, then Henderson likely won’t hold much fantasy value unless Akers struggles or gets injured.
