Saints GM Mickey Loomis spoke with reporters about Michael Thomas, saying, “I don’t expect him to be on (PUP) very long, he’s just not quite ready to be full go yet.”
Fantasy Impact: Thomas has played just seven games over the past two seasons, due to ankle injuries. This from Mickey Loomis along with other positive reports this off-season imply Thomas is moving in the right direction physically. The New Orleans Saints placed him on the PUP list prior to the start of training camp, likely to give him more time to rehabilitate and since the Saints have the can lift Thomas off at any point fantasy managers should not be panicked. If he were to remain on the PUP list at the start of the regular season, he will be required to miss a minimum of four weeks. The last time Thomas played a full season, he set an NFL record with 149 receptions, led the NFL with 1,725 receiving yards and scored nine touchdowns. Despite finishing as the overall WR1 in fantasy prior to injury he is currently being drafted as the WR29 in PPR formats, according to FantasyPros. While this shows how uncertain fantasy managers are about him moving forward, if he were to return to his 2019 form he would be an unquestioned league-winner.
