Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski hasn’t made a decision about his future in the NFL even though longtime teammate and friend Tom Brady retired this past week.
Fantasy Impact: Although there was a sense that Gronkowski would retire alongside Brady, the future Hall of Fame tight end is still undecided. This past Tuesday, general manager Jason Licht said, “When you played in the league for 11 years, you need a little time to think things through to see if you want to go through with it for another year. From my conversations with Rob, he just needs that. I don’t think it’s going to be dependent on whether Tom came back or not from what I understand, and I know that Rob had an incredible experience here as well.” If Gronkowski does call it quits, he’d be destined for the Hall of Fame in 2027. Otherwise, the Bucs would welcome him back as one of their top receiving options as they look to survive the post-Brady era next year. If he does return, fantasy managers should view him as a mid-range TE1 option.
