Russell Wilson, Broncos starters to play preseason opener

According to Nick Shook of nfl.com, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that QB Russell Wilson and the other Denver starters are expected to play in their preseason opener on Friday.

Fantasy Impact: Wilson did not participate in the Broncos’ 2022 preseason games, a season which ended in disappointment as the pairing of Wilson and head coach Nathaniel Hackett fizzled out in a 5-12 failure. Payton has made many comments to the media regarding his distaste for how the previous regime operated in Denver and how he plans to rectify his own rule and build everything back up from the ground floor. Part of this process is the player’s playing in the preseason so they can get used to the new system and get reacquainted with the live-game feel. Wilson, and the other starters, likely won’t be out for long to avoid injuries, but it’s an important sign of the changing of the guard in Denver.
