Week 11 Buy Low, Sell High: Trading is one of the best parts of the fantasy football season as it can make or break your success in a given year. Every league is different with roster makeup and which players fantasy managers value more than others, so the trade market may be different from league to league. With that being said, here are some players that should be bought low and others that should be sold high heading into this week.
Fantasy Football Buy-Low Candidates
Miles Sanders (RB, PHI)
Since Miles Sanders was sidelined and put on IR with an ankle injury, the Eagles have completely flipped the script on their offensive game plan. Philadelphia fans and fantasy managers alike were begging this team to embrace running the ball and when they finally did, big surprise, it worked. Over the past 3 games without Miles Sanders, the Eagles have been running the ball at an insane clip with their percentage of run plays being at 68.31%, over 10% higher than the second-highest rate from the Patriots.
With Miles Sanders returning to this Philadelphia backfield and proving that he is by far the most talented back they have, there could be an opportunity for Sanders to act as a league winner for fantasy managers. Add in the fantasy playoff schedule that the Eagles have been blessed with and the possibility of Sanders showing out looks even more likely. In weeks 15-17, the Eagles go up against their struggling NFC East rivals with Washington in Week 15, the Giants in Week 16, and Washington again in Week 17.
Washington is getting depleted on defense by the week and the Giants have proved that they can’t defend the rushing attack this season. Miles Sanders could be a great buy-low as his absence and previous usage look bad on paper and you can probably get him for a cheap price while he has the possibility for a late-season revival.
Darrell Henderson Jr. (RB, LAR)
Coming off of two ugly games in a row and heading into a bye, the value of Darrell Henderson is looking pretty bleak at the moment. The Rams, in general, have been a bad team these past few weeks and most of their players could be bought at discounted values but none have been as disappointing as Henderson has. Against Tennessee and San Francisco, the Rams have had to abandon the run game both times due to falling to early deficits.
This has of course not favored Henderson’s fantasy output while the Rams continued to look for opportunities downfield rather than running the ball. Now is a good time to buy low on him because his value shouldn’t be any lower than this for the remainder of the season. The Rams running back strength of schedule is one of the easiest for the remainder of the season so Henderson should be a solid contributor to rosters down the stretch.
A.J. Brown (WR, TEN)
After a couple of dud performances in a row, A.J. Brown is in great buy-low territory. I expect the reason for his past two unfortunate performances have something to do with Jalen Ramsey and a very good Saints defense that was giving the Titans problems as a whole. Heading into a pretty advantageous matchup against Houston and a nice rest of season schedule for Titans wide receivers, expect A.J. Brown to bounce back and return to form in the coming weeks.
DeAndre Hopkins (WR, ARI)
With his availability frustrating fantasy managers as of late, DeAndre Hopkins could be a great buy-low receiver for the fantasy playoffs. It is never a great plan to trade for injured players, but if you are in a comfortable position and gearing up for the fantasy playoffs, Hopkins could provide a boost to your lineup that few other receivers could. At full health, this Cardinals offense is second to none and Hopkins has proven that he is a force when healthy.
The ball has been spread around in Arizona this year with Hopkins not seeing the usage that he has become accustomed to over the years but his connection with Kyler Murray and the talent alone suggest that he could be in line for more boom weeks down the line. Looking at the schedule for Arizona in the fantasy playoffs, the Cardinals are up against Detroit in Week 15, Indianapolis in Week 16, and Dallas in Week 17. All of those defenses have struggled against the pass this season which suggests that the Cardinals could be rolling on offense with Hopkins as the main beneficiary.
Fantasy Football Sell-High Candidates
Antonio Gibson (RB, WAS)
Coming off of his best game in weeks, Antonio Gibson looked similar to the running back managers expected him to be heading into the 2021 season. He received a whopping 26 total touches which suggests his shin is back to normal and better days could be ahead. However, the one aspect of this game that stands out is the positive game script that Washington was blessed with against Tampa Bay.
Throughout this season, a positive game script has been very rare for this Washington offense as they are typically playing from behind. With this rare occurrence happening in line with Gibson’s return to the field, you could probably sell high on him for RB2 value. That may be the best course of action as the wheels are clearly coming off in Washington and they aren’t expected to be leading games for their entirety like they were in Week 10.
Stefon Diggs (WR, BUF)
You aren’t selling Diggs for pennies after his explosion against the Jets, but it would be wise to shop him around to people who might be trapped in the moment. Stefon Diggs hasn’t been what fantasy managers drafted him to be this season as he hasn’t really had many of those huge plays we saw in 2020. He is an extremely talented receiver but the Buffalo offense doesn’t seem to be the same as what we saw just a year ago.
Diggs is heading into a couple of advantageous matchups against Indianapolis in Week 11 and New Orleans in Week 12 but then his schedule dips off for the rest of the season. In weeks 13-16, the Bills go up against 4 straight top-10 defenses against wide receivers. We could see Diggs being a major disappointment for managers rostering him during the fantasy playoffs and I’d suggest thoroughly looking for appropriate trades in return for the Bills’ star receiver.
Mike Evans (WR, TB)
Mike Evans has been a nice piece for fantasy rosters these past 3 weeks as he’s put up a total of 5 touchdowns during that span. That is why you should ship him off for a more reliable receiver for the rest of the season. Touchdowns are never a good stat to rely on in fantasy, no matter how much of a magnet a player might be for them. Evans has been known to be very dependent on red-zone usage in the past and this year is no different. 5 touchdowns in 3 games is very high and I wouldn’t expect that kind of number to continue as this offense gets healthy.
The return of AB and Gronk to his lineup has been taking forever but they will most likely be back at some point to take opportunities away from Evans. Chris Godwin has also been a little hobbled as of late so his return to form will limit Evans as well. Mike Evans is a very boom or bust type of player and having that kind of option on rosters heading into the playoffs is risky. Send him off for a player with more steady yardage totals that doesn’t rely as heavily on touchdowns for good fantasy performances.
James Conner (RB, ARI)
James Conner had an ugly game on Sunday along with the rest of the Arizona offense. He finished with 64 total yards but his ability to find the endzone saved his fantasy day as he stumbled in for a score. Fantasy managers might not have the luxury to trade a starting running back but Conner has a limited time at the top. Chase Edmonds should be returning to this offense at some point soon after his stint on IR and that should relegate Conner back to being the goal line option in Arizona.
While Conner is still recognized as a starter in fantasy, you could ship him off to managers who are dealing with injuries and are scrambling for options. The value of a starting running back in 2021 should return for a decent package and it would be wise to capitalize on that value while Conner still possesses it.
