FanDuel Week 2 Lineup: Remember that time I wrote a Week 1 FanDuel lineup article and implied that I’d be doing so for the entire season? Just kidding! I’ve I got an entire website to run, so I’ve found another writer to take over and I’m confident you’ll find his advice quite helpful. You’ll hear more from Ryan Durante next week, but keep reading below to see his picks for Week 2 (And in case you were curious, my Week 1 lineup did score 166.12 points and I doubled my $5 tournament entry. Oh yeah). — Justin Sablich

QB – Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) vs. KC ($7,600)
The Steelers-Chiefs game has the highest expected total of the week at 54 points with the Steelers projected to win 32 to 22. Big Ben was awful on the road last week, putting up a mere 12 points against the Browns. Yet somehow, no one’s concerned. Big Ben on the road vs. Big Ben at home is the difference between drinking diet and regular coke. It’s just never the same. Now at home, Roethlisberger is ready to roll. The Chiefs secondary is in complete shambles having allowed 424 passing yards and 3 touchdowns to Phillip Rivers last week. Expect Roethlisberger to have a huge day with Antonio Brown and co. along for the ride. Injury Update: Roethlisberger expected to play.
RB – Todd Gurley (LAR) vs. ARI ($8,900)
Anytime you roster Todd Gurley in your lineup you automatically feel great. Gurley got off to a solid start last week putting up 22.2 fantasy points against the Raiders. He gets to face one of the worst run defenses in the league this week at home against the Cardinals. This game has blowout written all over it. The game script will certainly play favorably to Gurley, giving him plenty of opportunities to run the ball while rostering a lead. I’d be surprised if Gurley didn’t score multiple touchdowns in this one.
RB – James Conner (PIT) vs. KC ($7,000)
One of the chalkiest plays this week will again be James Conner. We’ve seen Steelers backups have great success while filling in for an absent Le’Veon Bell, but WOW, few could have expected a 31.7 point outing from Conner. This week seems to be more of the same. Conner is in a great spot to produce a lot of fantasy points. Against a Chiefs D that allowed 14 catches to Chargers RB’s last week, expect Conner to be effective in multiple ways. He is a great player to pair with Big Ben this week in what should be a very rewarding game stack.
WR – Antonio Brown (PIT) vs. KC ($8,900)
In many cases, DFS players win large GPP tournaments by stacking their lineups. Rostering three to five players in a single game can give any player a serious advantage if the game hits and turns into a shootout. This week, I see merit in applying this strategy to the Steelers-Chiefs game. There are few signs to show that this game will flop or produce a less than expected game total. Over the week, the game line has adjusted from 53 to 54 points, encouraging us that the game will produce as much as initially thought. With 16 targets last week, Antonio Brown is once again looking like the No. 1 fantasy wide receiver in football. He has every opportunity to put up monster numbers this week in a great matchup (if you’re looking for a cheaper/additional option, Juju Smith-Schuster is $7,200 and well in play).
WR – Kenny Golladay (DET) at SF ($5,700)
The Lions head into San Francisco this week in what could be a sneaky, high-scoring affair. In a game that I expect the 49ers to gain a lead in, Stafford should throw the ball a very healthy amount. Golladay was the recipient of 12 targets last week, resulting in 114 receiving yards. Golden Tate received 15 targets in that game and Marvin Jones saw 8. With the Lions likely to be down in many games this year, it seems that there are plenty of balls to go around in this offense.
WR – Quincy Enunwa (NYJ) vs. MIA ($5,000)
Emerging as Sam Darnold’s go-to receiver, Quincy Enunwa looks to build on his rapport with the rookie QB and continue his hot start against the Dolphins. Receiving 10 targets last week, Enunwa is one of the best punt plays this week with legitimate scoring upside. Having paid up for Gurley and Brown, this was a great way for me to save money while not limiting my lineup’s potential. (Darnold is also in play at QB as a punt option at $6,600)
TE – George Kittle (SF) vs. DET ($5,700)
Jimmy G’s trust in Kittle has only grown from last season. It was on full display in Week 1 as Kittle saw a team high 9 targets. Marquise Goodwin went down early in the first half with a quadriceps injury and has already been ruled out, so Kittle figures to maintain his lead in team targets.
FLEX – Dalvin Cook (MIN) at GB ($6,500)
Dalvin Cook came out of the gate exactly how the Vikings coaching staff said he would. Playing over 80 percent of snaps Week 1, Cook was utilized as a true three-down back. He carried the ball 16 times last week, but more importantly saw 7 pass targets, which reinforces his weekly ceiling. He’s a mere $6,500 on FanDuel and is arguably the best bargain of the week. He’s one of the few players that could return 3-4x his price and looks to face a Packers defense that just gave up 139 yards on the ground against the Bears.
DEF – Los Angeles Rams (LAR) vs. ARI ($4,800)
The most obvious DEF play and for good reason. If you watched the Cardinals-Redskins game last week you’ll understand why the Rams are worth their price. The Cardinals are a mess and one week of practice will not fix that. I love pairing the Rams D with Todd Gurley. Game script aligns to make these two plays a complementary duo. With all of the Rams defensive weapons, a TD is certainly in the realm of possibilities.
